Next week I’m off to Silicon Valley for the MIH Swat technical conference in Palo Alto. All the technical heads of Naspers companies around the world will be attending the conference to discuss the future of web applications. I have quite a few American readers on this blog so if you are in the Bay area please get in touch so we can meet up! So far I have a trip planned to the Synthasite offices with Vinny Lingham and a visit to the local Apple Store to buy some Mac goodies including a cover for my iPhone.
I fly next week Monday to New York and then to San Francisco, follow my Twitter stream for updates as I will tweet my experience.
I was a judge in the 2008 South African E-Commerce Awards hosted by JUMP Shopping. The results have just been announced and I’m pleased to say I was almost spot on with the winners I selected. You can see the results here.
After an immensely successful round of voting, in which over 10,000 votes were cast, Jump shopping is proud to announce the winners of the 2008 South African E-Commerce Awards!
This year’s awards carried the same format as the previous years’ by first giving the public the opportunity to nominate their favourite South African Online stores in 20 different categories. Once a list of nominees had been published the public and a panel of Judges were given the opportunity to cast their votes.
The votes were split 49% from the public and 51% from the judges. This year’s judges were Albert Bredenhann, Andy Hadfield, Arthur Goldstuck, Charl Norman, Damaria Senne, Ferdie Bester, Henk Kleynhans, Ismail Dhorat and Marlon Parker.
LeWeb’08 is the #1 Web conference in Europe with 1500 participants from 40 Countries hosted over Dec 9-10th in Paris. I’m excited to announce that I have cracked the nod for a blogger invite. LeWeb is all about internet technology and (this year) the people that use it. Attending this conference will be a real eye opener for me about international internet business and I look forward to meeting some real big players. If you wish to attend register here.
What LeWeb is really about is…
…people
Extending the success of last year’s networking venue, this year’s LeWeb expands the space with several spaces adjacent to the plenary stage. We want attendees to get the opportunity to meet the speakers, entrepreneurs to meet investors to share ideas, open new opportunities.
…entrepreneurs
The StarUp Competition is an event in the event. We dedicate a space for this competition which is a great opportunity for rising stars to get more visibility in front of business leaders, investors and technology influencers.
…partnership
LeWeb is an event that could not be achieve without the trust of our partners and we really work hard to build this on a long term relationship.
During the 2 days of conference, the speakers will be interviewed on stage by the following reporters, bloggers:

I have been nominated for ICT Young Entrepreneur of Africa 2008. Now to even be nominated is a great honour for me seeing as last years winner of the award is internationally renowned Vinny Lingham.
